Meaning and use

Be going to often describes a plan or intention already in your mind before you speak. It can also make a prediction based on something you can see now: Look at those clouds. It is going to rain. Choose am, is, or are to match the subject, and keep the next verb in its base form. Make negatives and questions by changing the be part. Going to can overlap with will; this is a useful starting pattern, not an absolute rule for every future sentence.

Common mistakes
