Use participial modifiers after nouns.
What you’ll learn
Use participial modifiers after nouns.
កាត់ relative clause ដោយរក្សាន័យត្រឹមត្រូវ។
Meaning and use
Relative clauses can sometimes become shorter noun modifiers: people waiting outside and documents signed yesterday. An -ing modifier often has an active meaning; a past participle modifier often has a passive meaning. Reduction must preserve meaning; a simple -ing form cannot reliably retain every tense or modal distinction.
Relative clause ខ្លះអាចកាត់ជា -ing ឬ past participle ក្រោយនាម។ People waiting មានន័យ active; documents signed មានន័យ passive។ មិនមែនគ្រប់ឃ្លាអាចកាត់ដោយរក្សាន័យដដែលទេ។
