A Short Opinion Paragraph

Writing focus

An opinion paragraph states a viewpoint and explains why the writer holds it. Use a clear opening, one or two reasons, and a relevant example. Distinguish your preference from a fact about everyone. A short closing can restate the overall point without copying the opening word for word.

Writing patterns

Pattern	Example or form
Viewpoint	I prefer studying in the morning.
Reason	I feel more alert then.
Example	For example, I can read before the house becomes busy.
Closing	For these reasons, mornings suit me best.

Examples

1. I think reading every day is useful.

   ខ្ញុំគិតថាការអានរាល់ថ្ងៃមានប្រយោជន៍។

2. It helps me learn words in context.

   វាជួយខ្ញុំរៀនពាក្យក្នុងបរិបទ។

3. For example, I notice how verbs are used.

   ឧទាហរណ៍ ខ្ញុំកត់សម្គាល់របៀបប្រើកិរិយាសព្ទ។

4. That is why I read for ten minutes each evening.

   ហេតុនេះ ខ្ញុំអានដប់នាទីរាល់ល្ងាច។

Model writing

I prefer studying with a partner. We can ask each other questions and explain difficult points. For example, my friend helps me notice mistakes that I miss when I work alone. We also encourage each other to practise regularly. For these reasons, studying together works well for me.

Common mistakes

Instead of	Use	Why
I am think morning study is better.	I think morning study is better for me.	Think is a lexical verb; for me clarifies the personal scope.
I prefer read books.	I prefer reading books.	Use an -ing complement here; prefer to read is also possible.
